The New York hip-hop star Genecist is ready with another new single. Growing up in a musical family, his influences have been diverse and foundational. Perhaps the most influential artists for Genecist have been Lauryn Hill (signed stuff) and Lupe Fiasco. He's taken the best bits of soul and hip-hop to create his perfectly adapted blend. This new song is named after the blood of society, something that is necessary if not dear to our hearts.
The music begins with an orchestra playing percussive notes. A melody grows from the rhythmic tones with bells. Genecist begins singing, his voice is poured over the bars in drawn out lines. These harmonise with themselves, until a verse is born. Rap with fun and easy going vibes turns the swing into a bounce before the harmonising section begins again. The swapping of energies in a chorus, verse style switches the atmosphere while remaining true to the beat.
