The Perfumers - Automatic Girl | Alternative Fruit
The Perfumers
Automatic Girl

Since playing many dates around the US and featuring on several radio stations, The Perfumers now release their long awaited single. The band have described the work as the simplest yet most difficult song of theirs to date. The entire recording process took several days and nights which resulted in the best version absolutely possible.

The music starts with an upbeat guitar riff. Energetic chords twang and rumble with a static distortion. Vocals begin, sliding notes jostle along bluesy lines as catchy riffs build and roll with the approachable drums. Harmonisations with distinctive chord progressions repeat in hook laden sections as the song takes us from post to post. A song about people who don't think before they speak, who don't stop to care about other people's feelings perhaps. It's short, snappy, and memorable.

ARIA – Coming Home | Alternative Fruit

ARIA Coming Home
ARIA
Coming Home

Following in the footsteps of her childhood idol, Britney Spears (signed stuff), ARIA is making a sensational impact on Spotify with hundreds of thousands of listens to date. Her unique style and natural talent have contributed to several successful talent auditions which then gave ARIA the drive to seek out recording opportunities. While working at a pizza shop she met Norm Sabourin, just the person she needed to get her voice on the airwaves. In four short but also long years, ARIA is right where she needs to be to become an even bigger star.

The music beings with a symphony of synthesiser. Pipes and rhythmic pulses dance in a slender melody which provides a spongy bed for ARIA's voice. Such a rich and wholesome voice, with perfect accuracy and emotional reflectivity. Sudden bursts of melody break open a chorus as new dynamic energy is fettered through each line. A catchy rhythm and a genuine progression of feeling lends us a dramatic interlude into the world of Canada's rising talent.

Keep On Walking

Bobby's nephew Binky is back with another single from his critically acclaimed album, The Last Valentino. This prolific music producer has worked on music from TUPAC and Snoop Dogg, as well as performing for Bonnie Raitt and Chaka Khan. Now it's Binky's turn to put his name on the front, and what a name! Dancing in the footsteps of his uncle means he already has a fantastic lead. The best thing is, he's using it really well.

Keep On Walking begins with a fruity bassline and smooth guitar notes. A clapping drum-beat swerves and twists in neat movements. The vocal begins, serenades of poetry sleekly drift across the notes like silken garments. A sunny and upbeat energy flows in laid-back composition. The song is about accepting the truth, love has faded and there's no point pretending any more. It makes light of a difficult situation by adding a dose of true perspective.

Rozalla – Magnificent | Alternative Fruit

Rozalla Magnificent

Rozalla
Magnificent

Fans of Michael Jackson will have fond memories of when Rozalla supported him on the star-studded Dangerous tour. This 90s music superstar is still going strong and it's a fantastic privilege for Alternative Fruit to be asked to feature her for a second time! We love supporting talent from across the board, no matter how big or small you may be. This is one high flying woman, the same Rozalla who danced with Al Pacino at a film premiere and the very same who's enjoyed top ten hits in the UK and the USA across three decades.

The music begins with retro beats and synthesiser that whisks us away into a disco dimension. Rozalla begins singing, her verse lines are layered with hook and melodic allure. The chorus punches in for its shift and the pressure rises as drum-breaks rumble and rise into an upbeat symphonic frenzy. Two-step bass and flashy lightning synths crackle through the composition as Rozalla pushes currents of vocal energy through the matrix like the mouth of a soulful river.

SXINT - The One | Alternative Fruit

SXINT
The One

Isaiah St. Jean aka SXINT, after his middle name, is the one to bring us some brand new music for you today. His track, The One, is about being an individual. That means that no-one can divide you. Often we have opinions and feelings because of how we feel about who else has them, but when faced with a real situation we act differently. This is because it's not really you who thinks these things. We have to decide for ourselves what kind of person we are. As far as SXINT is concerned, he's been described as a musical prodigy, so let's give him a listen.

A smooth hip-hop groove opens the track. Sliding notes and easy laid-back drums rapety-tap an avenue for SXINT to add his verses. Melodic lines with RnB elements scatter across scales in splendid and emotive portions. A fascinating evolution within the track remains true to the backbone of beats and chords while vocal sequences continually add new energy and feeling to the track.

Syteria Reflection Full Album Review | Alternative Fruit

Syteria
Reflection
Full Album Review

Sheffield hard-rock outfit Syteria have their latest album in review today for Alternative Fruit. This four-piece mixing pot of local talent have been playing the rock circuit at home and away for years. This second album cements their work in the annals of rock n roll fame even further. Their reputation for energetic and raucous live performances and a virtuoso attitude to proficiency means that fans all over the world can't get enough of Syteria.

The album opens with Make Some Noise. It's a classic already, as fast blues licks radiate groove to a smashing drum rhythm. Girl-power lyrics begin, talented rock females always look and sound amazing. The chorus drills the audience with the excitement of upbeat and melodic heavy metal. A message of standing up to dodgy politicians and corporations is knitted through the otherwise light-hearted romp.

Next, a spoken word sample breaks a short silence. Palm muted riffs coil while delicately sung words spiral in the updraught. Extra notes are filled in, the music swells and with a punch and a cinematic frill, the song progresses into another hard-hitting number. A melodic prettiness is felt in the verses, and the chorus rises up to take responsibility for everything to come. Goodbye World is about moving on.

Then, a flashy blues melody throws a fast-pace that kicks all the fences down. Another ruckus of drumming and bass accompany the pentatonic flow into white-water rapids and breezy mid-sections. Album title track Reflection carries a punk energy that sits on the same shelf as the mighty Motorhead.

Asylum starts, a melodic run of bouncing scale leaps from side to side and powerful snare and cymbal pound over thumping bass. The sleek guitar bubbles along with precise motions of fretboard mastery as a madness is created in the frothing percussion, chords, and vocal line. More story-like lines empower and inspire as the music breaks open for a solo. Back to the chorus, bending notes and harmonised words give a crazy edge.

Next, a cool riff spans out. Paced lyrics with rhyming words walk out of the door with a sauntering step. This evolves into a swagger as the rhythm intensifies and the lyrics enter double time. A new section of melodic vocals with compressed guitar notes crunching in the distance brings us to the sense of the track. Gossips is about being the one everyone seems to be talking about but never to. It comes with the territory of being a rock star. Not that I'd know.

Sorry begins with a new message, it accepts that sometimes friends are real and the things they talk about are important. We can always tell when something's true, it often hurts. We can get emotional about it if we want to, but the best thing to do is just take it on board and carry on. As If! It begins with a striking line and a punchy riff. You Wish! Let's go, this upbeat and classy number drips with nerve and confidence.

Drums begin the following track. Bubbling guitar phrases run across the rocky path laid bare, before lyrics add their feeling and story. A continuation of the upbeat and lively energy projects with the music, Back Off let's us know that this band can stand their ground on any stage, with any crowd. We're then graced with a pure vocal harmony. A clear strain of pure talent runs through as the chunky guitar and drums rev up once more. Electrifying chops and ferocious shreds sizzle in the heat of the drums. Moving Forward is full of energy and I'll go where ever it wants me to.

A cool and catchy vocal begins for I Want It All. The uplifting sensations rise on waves of guitar and drum. The music shifts into the next gear as the chorus breaks it open. Vocal harmonies layer with thrashy guitars and slapping drums. Memorable lines repeat with intersecting poetry which pours in easy going sections. Plastic Fantastic pulls the kite string and swoops over to perform neat acrobatics in a rock n roll sky. Loop the loops and nose dives thrill and spill the vibes in every possible direction.

The album finishes on Guilty. The music delivers exactly what we want from this band. Huge vocal-lines with repeating words make sure we can all join in. A persistent fire rages across each chapter of this full-length heavy metal album, massive tracks with a synonymous vibe stitch this album from sleeve to sleeve. I wonder if they do a T-shirt?

What The Piano Knows

This duo of extraordinary talents are mixing British and American skills together to play something brewed from an Irish heritage. Dave Corwin is perhaps best known for his soundtracks, having worked with Fox, NBC, and HBO. Fans of Billy Preston will also no doubt remember him from a recent tour. Corwin is able to play a range of instruments and brings a plethora of music business experience wherever he goes. Catherine Ashcroft is an award-winning piper from Britain. Her authentic Uilleann training washes performances with an ethereal charm. Together they are able to reimagine the magic of this traditional sounding ballad.

The song, written by cinema screen-writer Scott Fivelson, opens with slow piano strokes and a bluesy folk vocal melody that delves right in with emotional verses. A powerful sensation holds back behind lyrics, holding the cool as the music sleeks by. Beautiful pipe melodies are found frolicking in flowery meadows, and as the song progresses, their sound is taken by the hand and whisked into a dance.

Merunisa
Broken And Bruised

Female Drake simulacrum Merunisa is rising fast on the UK RnB scene. Her uniquely crafted delivery and style is slotting in perfectly with all the right crowds. With great press, radio play, and head-turning performances tailing behind her like a comet, this shooting star is about to go into orbit. Here we are treated to the latest release, Broken and Bruised.

With sombre piano tones twinkling in subtle minor keys, a thumping bass rolls out like red carpet. Merunisa begins to sing, the comparison to Drake becomes clear, her voice is syrupy gold that treacles across the beats as they glide into play. Drums with tapping sensitivity dish a layering of groove that simply compliment the delicious progression of song. As chords rise from notes in swaying patterns, the energy rises and falls in graceful postures like the flight of swans.

It's a dangerous place up there, above our heads.
