The Maltese super-group that are taking the world piece by piece are helping themselves to another portion. This fantastic new number, following on from the line somewhere between The Killers, Kings of Leon, and Mumford and Sons, (follow the links for eBay swag) once again puts their name on the headline. Airport Impressions return to Alternative Fruit as we review their latest single, Light Years.


A sunny guitar begins with a wavery sensation before a thumping bass flows into the pace. Finger clicks and heavy drumming frames a melodic verse line filled with emotional character. An 80s style rhythm built from synthesisers adds an ethereal quality to the guitar and bass led rock-song. As the chorus rises, extra energy is pumped into the mix as snare and harmonising layers fill the space. A synth-wave and nostalgic effect gathers momentum as lyrics about love and emotion break like eggs over the snapping percussion.
