ARIA – This Boy | Alternative Fruit
ARIA
This Boy

It was MTV that first introduced today's artist to the world of music. When she was only three years old, young ARIA became fascinated with Britney Spears (eBay swag). The song, Hit Me Baby, One More Time was the foundation stone for ARIA's love of singing and performing. Now all grown up, she's continued her pop music direction every step of the way. Taking guitar and vocal lessons while at school in Ottawa and then moving to Toronto and into the industry, ARIA is known for her enchanting delivery.

This Boy opens on a smooth chord from a synthesiser. Melody gusts in draughty phrases as a rhythm joins the incline. ARIA begins the song and her voice pours like syrup across the gradually progressing bars. Short rhythmic sections burst into drums which shower us in percussive power as ARIA reaches the vocal climax with a chorus. An RnB inspired melody rocks like a cradle as the beats shift from bar to bar. A sleek and seductive number with emotional clarity draws a map of womanly feelings.

Mr. President (Whole Lotta Trouble) – Deuce Music | Alternative Fruit
Mr President (Whole Lotta Trouble)
Deuce Music

Deuce Music are unveiling their latest direction in the world of independent and artist led music. The friendly radio show and promotion service have seen many names wander through their halls over the past twenty years. Artists with the drive to get noticed and make waves in their industry know that working with this service lends them a level of clout no-one can muster alone. Now with their own record label, Deuce Music are re-releasing previous tracks with a passion for making their quality count.

Mr President was originally written by competition-winning Sungover. When they were awarded their prize of a recording session and international PR, Sungover were thrilled. This soon fizzled when their producer wanted to completely rewrite their song. What's more, the PR never materialised, meaning their talent and sound were totally wasted. Disheartened, the band soon split up.

With an anonymous yet well-known singer, the original Sungover track has been recorded and performed for Deuce Music. Toronto's Norm Sabourin from Aqua Sound Entertainment has produced and mastered this track, with the UK's Phil Francis on backing vocals. With the US Election on the horizon, it's a perfect time to release this rendition of a classic song.

It begins with a rock drum-beat. A guitar and vocal then replaces the flow as finger-clicks keep time. The percussion returns as the song moves on through the verse and into the chorus. Hey, Mr President.. it's a catchy and upbeat sing-a-long. With a happy and fun delivery, lyrics about the social interaction of power bring on a lively atmosphere. As the music builds to a climax, the chorus repeats across guitar-led bars of snappy drums and harmony.

Amaya
Escape

Having grown up in Hong Kong and then moved to London, Amaya has continued her studies in music. Her expert talent with the violin and a passion for 19th Century romantic styles gives Amaya a unique and sharpened edge which manifests in her recordings.

The music begins with a sombre piano that sings quietly in a muffled room. Amaya begins to sing, beautiful words are sung in clear verse that dance in their own light. The piano matches the progression, notes cry out in growing amplitude as the song moves into a swaying hypnosis. A graceful and delicate energy swishes through movements as pressure builds to a drum. Layers of composition decorate each passing phrase as novel uses of sound sparkle among the song-writing.

Plastic Pals More Than An Icon
The Plastic Pals
More Than An Icon
Polythene Records

Stockholm's The Plastic Pals have just released their latest single from their forthcoming EP which is out in November. More Than An Icon from It Could Be So Easy, Free and Fine EP came out on the 16th of October. This band have made big headway in Europe and beyond with their foot-tapping and melodic sound. The fifteen year anniversary release EP contains music from their entire history including this 2006 classic.

Bouncy and tuneful guitars swing into action with choppy sunshine chords and notes that bring out the major harmony. Lyrics begin, Hawk delivers in his usual catchy and psychedelia inspired style. The verse pumps up the inflatable and quickly releases the beach-ball into the crowd as the chorus gains entry. The chords ring out as snappy beats gather the pace in perfectly folded corners. A blues guitar then wails with a middle-eight which flutters and lifts the song's energy further. Another round of verse and chorus gives us another dose of rock and happiness before the closing bars which wander off into distant imaginings.

Lilith Bee - Hungry Beast | Alternative Fruit
Lilith Bee
Hungry Beast

We are super-pleased to welcome Lilith Bee back to the Sound Read journal as she releases her latest song, Hungry Beast. This alluring title just wants us to listen, doesn't it? Lilith Bee has been writing her own compositions since she was only eleven and now her skills are out of this world. She recently won the Young Songwriter of the Year 2020 Award from the Song Academy! That is fantastic news and we know she deserves it. Lilith Bee is no stranger to long-distance radio-play and this is set to continue with this latest recording.

It begins with a fantastic drum bash as a keyboard melody acts as a surfboard for Lilith Bee to enter. Her lyrics reach and grab at musical notes as they hang from the branches of a tree. A dynamic 3D melody moves from side to side, from front to back, and round and round. A sleek rhythm pounds with fresh and pitched drums that act like pins to paper. An evolution brings out a reggae rhythm as Lilith continues to demonstrate her uniquely catchy and adventurous delivery.

Rofo Audio In Veritas
Rofo Audio
Walls

This band are named after their local acronym, Royersford in Pennsylvania didn't know what hit them when their town made it into headlines all over the States and Europe. Their fourth album is titled In Veritas, which means in truth, and Walls is their latest single taken from that record. These guys have been performing on stage for over a decade, initially as a cover band, the band members decided to put their talents to better use by writing their own compositions. It's a steeper mountain but it has a much higher peak.

The video begins with a clip of some cooling towers as a transmitted conversation plays out. Shady characters linger in the shadows and observe the scene. Then, the band begins to play. Expert guitar pounds against solid drumming as the bass plunges deep on every beat. A great vocal delivery shines out like a rocket high above. The lyrics are easy to hear and they carry rhyming schemes that compliment the tempo. Rising chorus pressure gives a fantastic dancing groove while more intimate verse sections draw the listener in.

26th Avenue – 2:06 | Alternative Fruit
26th Avenue
2:06

Let's go to Sussex and pay attention to 26th Avenue. Fronted by the punk genius Demi, at just 22 years old, they are already well-known for creating a fantastic atmosphere with their voracious live performances. Since being formed only in 2018, they've already reached the finals of the famous Soundwaves Music competition which sent them into the media at high speed.

An eerie silence begins the track, as the video progresses we wonder what is going on. Then the band appears as the clock hits the right time. Demi begins to sing, her great tone swings from the melody like sparklers creating visions in the night air. The band are great, a group of young lads effortlessly chug away at fiery licks and power-chord progressions that sing with raucousness. 2:06 is a fun and lively track with a fantastic pop-punk groove.

Blackjack Love
Before I Leave

Fronted by rock sensation Azza Sergent, Blackjack Love are already huge along the West coast in the USA and in the South East of England. These two vital holdings are a great standpoint to stride across the rest of the globe with their fantastic sound. Having played on the same stage as Stiff Little Fingers, The Blockheads, and Beady Eye on various tours and dates, Blackjack Love can already be proud to have established a veteran attitude to their business. Recorded at LA's Sound City and London's Animal Farm, this latest work is ready to be turned up and tuned in.

With a choppy guitar riff and a cracking drum-beat, the music revs up like a sports car. Sleek and swaggering vocals mosey in with a sauntering melody. Blues and rhythm push the amplitude and with a roar of distortion, the song breaks into the next gear. Guitar phrases mirror each other as vocal harmonies shatter the stillness with progressive energy. A brilliant solo tops off the performance as rhythmic groove takes our hand and sways us into the atmosphere. More vocals then provide us with what we want, next level mixing brings all the attributes together for one final push.
