Max Cooper
Reflect From Earth EP Mesh Records EP TBR: 26th November Ambient luminary Max Cooper is back in 2020 with another unveiling of superb soundscape and adventure. Each of Max Cooper's creations involve a serious and in-depth composition that delves into every angle of sound to sculpt out the perfect harmony. As composer, conductor, and orchestra, Max Cooper's latest work is said to summon playful humanity alongside huge and inviting depths. Rhythmic pulses open the number. A gentle and oceanic sensation washes the tones into ever higher waves that gradually form unique shapes. Swirling undertones collapse among steady long-distance structures which rattle along miniature breakers in the way. Amplitude builds, percussion in the melody emerges like little staring eyes while large shapes glide within watery havens. Sonic adjustments allow for the continuation of dynamic novelty as newly formed intentions arise from the glistening core. Non Stop Erotic Cabaret are Timmy Faith and Damo Devotion. With a personality mix perfectly suited to utilising technology formed after a chance encounter at a like-minded festival, Non Stop Erotic Cabaret have been featured on the BBC and have played several festival dates of their own. The music opens with a vocoder lyric that creates a rhythmic pace soon backed up by synthesiser and drums. Cracking snares and hats tap away while the steady bass keeps everything in line. A chorus breaks with extra sonic garnish and harmonising melody. Upbeat dancing rhythms hold the piece together while lyrics conjure grandiose imagery that pulls us in. Richard Ryan
Simple Man Having established himself in a big way in his home-town of Louisiana USA with his previous single, Creative and Dreams artist Richard Ryan is ready with another blaster. The local radio where he lives has been enjoying his music a lot, and that led on to much more international radio-play. This time, Richard Ryan demonstrates his rock n roll skills by producing a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover. It begins with an organ sound that quickly joins guitar and drum. Richard Ryan begins to sing, his easy to listen to voice sweeps over the lines with absolute clarity. A blues edge forms swirling melodies over the main progression of chords while slide guitar warms the core with wailing emotion. Nicky Rubin
Invisible We welcome Nicky Rubin back to Alternative Fruit for today's single in review. Having travelled the world and spend a lot of time in third-word countries, Nicky Rubin has turned a battered old guitar into a music career. His messages convey the many voices he has met along the way and with his privileged situation in the UK is putting to the best use he can with his set of skills. That's the ethic behind Alternative Fruit as well, so we really like what Nicky Rubin is doing here. The music begins with a pulsing bass. Poetic lyrics almost rap the first verse as a synthesiser begins to swell with melodic intent. 80S inspired synth-pop fills lift the music into its airspace as the progression builds up and washes down in neat and easy to remember sections. It's about the feeling of being unseen in the world, where people turn their gaze because what you are hurts them to much, the loneliness of being just one in a crowd of many. Keep your powder dry, a repeated line that to me says don't get wet. Be strong. You can follow Nicky Rubin on Facebook and Instagram

She's had 80,000 hits already for her song Love Me Hate Me and looks to gain many more over the next few months. The music opens with a sampled melody that frames a tone and time. Aimee Broom starts singing, her friendly and easy-going voice hits perfect melody as she begins the story. Rhythm and percussion add a spray of brightly defined music as the chorus rises and blossoms. Synthesiser bass gives a pulse that provides lift as Aimee delivers her reminiscent memories to a beautiful tune. You can follow Aimee Broom on Instagram

Harriet Comfort
Time Is Now Making big waves on the UK rock scene and beyond are this group of five Australians and one Brit. They just happened to meet up one day and decided to play music together. Anything could have happened, thankfully it turned out they were all super-hot musicians. The end result of much practice and group bonding is Harriet Comfort, a name of an unknown previous tenant at their East London flat. This sextet of rising-stars have already had attention from Classic Rock Magazine and several popular radio stations. Time Is Now begins like a Black Sabbath song. It gallops into our ears on a quick guitar rhythm. Powerful female vocals holler the words along the running commentary of drums, bass, and guitar. Great palm muted chord riffs work to prop the rhythmic motion while open chords add a layer of energy to the solid chorus. It's a call to rebellion, a lift from the floor, and a message to the world.
