Rollin The Dice
From Eponymous Album
Arizona based Jim Pipkin has been performing on stage since the 1970s. His career has spanned many stages and a few big names have used his material too. Winning awards and staying fresh over the past four decades has been a breeze, it seems nothing can stop this Americana loving songwriter. He's glad to be able to provide great music, a lovable sense of humour, and a laid back style that makes audiences feel at home.
The song opens with an expertly played guitar phrase. Timing and chord structure come together in a strummed and plucked combo. New strings fill the spaces, two distinct rhythms combine to make one easy-going groove. The twin guitars begin playing in unique melodies, related to one another yet with distinctive angles. When the chorus comes along, the guitars join in a one tune frenzy of chords. This works a magic to focus the energy of the song on this key point. Giving a wandering dynamic, the bluesy feel allows us to think deeply while we're given the lines of a story.
