Angels Among Us

Contemporary rock from Colorado today, as we get an earful of Renewed and their song Angels Among Us. Recorded at RTF Studios and Colorado Sound, this premium quality press of a fantastic song really makes a footprint worth standing in. The US music scene is already in the process of adopting this brilliant band thanks to air-time, live shows, and great music. This debut single is no-doubt just a glimpse of what is to come. It's not been long since the band was formed, only luck could have placed these passionate performing musicians on the same stage and only solid characters could have said “let's do this!” and then do it.

It opens with piano keys striking a pretty melody. Kimberlee begins to sing, her lyrics float across like the words of a musical. She's singing about how we're helped through life sometimes by angels. Kindness, wisdom, and compassion make angels of all of us. The music progresses, drums and guitar flow in from tributary rivers to push everything into the next level. Epic vocal lines soar like jet-planes with sing-a-long lines that don't take long to learn. Each verse has another addition to the story of how we can all be an angel.

Hats off to the band for a catchy and enjoyable release.

Powertribe The Living Envy The Dead From Prepare For Battle | Alternative Fruit

The Living Envy The Dead
From Prepare For Battle

Los Angeles heavy metal band Powertribe make their debut for Alternative Fruit. Since 2015 this band has been tearing up the road to bring their sound to people all over the world. Social media and live performance have both been instrumental in their success. They've even shared the stage with rock icons Quiet Riot. Comprised of Darren Stroud on guitar and Missy Percifield on bass and vocals, these two had been working together in other bands before. Next came John Chominsky on drums to finish the three piece. Experimenting with prog-rock, they all had much more fun when the volume was turned up to maximum. Together they now make loud and in your face heavy metal with top quality skills and virtuoso talent. Each member has a unique set of influences that brings jazz, rock, and metal to the table. This meal of music is served up to all of us in a unique and professionally blended style.

The song begins on an uplifting guitar melody combined with surging chords and drums. The pace is pushed up a gear and the music shoots into the air. Melodic and crunchy, the rhythms pound down like hail stones while the whipping winds take on the mask of the guitar. Missy starts singing, her story-telling vocals wail and build over the ferocity of the music. At first the lyrics probe and push, looking for somewhere to settle, then they progress into melodic and free flowing syllables which ride on the push of the beat. Chorus lines soar as if on eagle's wings, huge pieces of natural geology circling past as we glide through the heavy metal landscape. Excellent skills and an amazing energy bring a fantastic sound that touches on so many legends. Expect to hear Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Dragon Force, and a whole host of European power-metal bands whose names we can't pronounce hiding behind this compositional theme. Arms in the air, hair down, and put your boots on, this music breaks boundaries.

Chiara Oldano Nothing To Hide From Fluorescently EP | Alternative Fruit

Chiara Oldano
Nothing To Hide
From Fluorescently EP

We're back in cosy London this week to check out the latest single from singing songwriting sensation Chiara Oldano. Since featuring on Alternative Fruit a few weeks ago, massive radio play and talking shop chatter have brightened the spotlight significantly. Despite not studying music at school, Chiara Oldano still studied music. It took 15 years of serious hard work, self taught and self regulated, but then Chiara became proficient in gospel, opera, and soul. With this talent set in her hat she was awarded a place at Berklee Music College in the USA. There she learned everything she'd missed but needed.

The song begins on synthesiser strings and plucks, a piano joins in as well. Uplifting and euphoric vocal sounds flow and span out into lyrics. Chiara Oldano begins to sing. As she explains the feeling of being fearless and confident, a guitar brings on the chorus. The words confirm what the first verse was saying, this is a time for being at peace and for being forward facing. A story about the self, about the loss of all weakness and timid retrospection, the time has come to stand up and let yourself be your guide.

Nothing To Hide by Chiara Oldano is a beautiful song and an emotional journey into the realms of self-fulfilment.

Jim Pipkin Primitive Mind | Alternative Fruit

Primitive Mind

American folk favourite Jim Pipkin returns to Alternative Fruit with another quality single. Since recording with the greats, performing with the best, and providing entertainment for a stretch of forty years or more, Jim Pipkin knows a thing or two about writing great songs. Primitive Mind is no different, continuing his world-famous energy for beauty and subtle musical humour. When award winning musicians like Jim Pipkin walk through our doors, we make sure they're happy.

With an upbeat melodic guitar phrase, the tune starts on a country and western theme. Lyrics about wanting to hide away from life spill lines of truth. The bluesy licks on the six-string bring on a happy sadness to the music, glad to be blue, it's the best place to be in this situation. Where everything boils down to not feeling like the bottom of the pile and how we struggle to get off the ground. Where the fight is real, we rely on our primitive mind, so says the song.

Mel Ody Can't Go Back (Featuring David Shane) | Alternative Fruit

Mel Ody
Can't Go Back (Featuring David Shane)

It took a while, but one day Mel Ody woke up and realised that if he doesn't live out his dreams of working in music, it'll never happen. Setting out on his adventure was not an easy journey, it takes time and effort to establish oneself out there. Even more so with musicians in every pub, club, and street corner all wanting your time and money. There was only one thing for it, Mel Ody had to work his talent to a point where the competition became his fans and co-workers. That's only been possible thanks to an amazing skill and a lot of persistent hard work.

From starting out as a DJ in his home of Athens, Mel Ody has built a network and reputation to be marvelled at. It was Ios where it all began for real, the club capital of the Greek Islands became a residency for this master of the dance. Working with featured DJs such as Don Diablo, Yellow Claw, and Borgore, Mel Ody was able to play his way into the fan-bases of several of the world's leading lights. Now performing his own material and with hundreds of thousands of Spotify hits across various tracks, Mel Ody is ready to release another.

With a whistling melody a slender beat is projected which evolves into RnB style singing. Then beats pile in like bicycles at the traffic lights, a rev of an engine and some horns for good effect, the pressure builds for a chorus. All breaks down again, revealing delicate vocals with emotional lyrics. Manly feelings, though, ones about doing your best and wanting some recognition. The chorus comes back again, it says we can't go back. Once we have made a move, said a piece, stated our intentions, that information will always be in the memory of those who hear it. The same can be said for becoming an artist, once we're known for it, we are saddled with it for life. It's not all that bad. It's a great track, short, snappy, and full of kinesis.
