Just A Jester
Holding On To Jetsam
This seven time Glastonbury veteran has shared the stage with talents such as Stuart Copeland and Van Morrison. Based in London, where he regularly performs and writes his music, even the BBC have put him in front of their many millions. Just A Jester, or Tim Whitaker to his mates, has already put six brilliant singles out there. Holding On To Jetsam makes it an astonishing seven in a fairly short period of time. How does he do it? There must be a vein of pure talent running through this rocker, and every now and then he shows us how far it goes.
Opening with a melody, full of bluesy bounce, an electric guitar plucks out the notes to an upbeat tempo. Chords enter with the voice, projecting each line with a driving energy. Nostalgic effects make the delivery feel like it could have been remastered from many years ago. This fresh sounding yet classically relevant rock sound uses psychedelia and clever lyrics to create a great sounding motivational track. We're left thinking, why haven't I heard this guy before? Some of you may already have, as Alternative Fruit has put him on before. Described as a song about the “Brexit ballsup”, one is left wondering if it's wise to ask the plebeian public like you and I about complex international relations.
