Being brought up in a musical family led Emme Pierre to become a singer-songwriter by the age of thirteen. Now with thousands of performances behind her and regular session work for several big name studios and acts the world is treated to something from her personal collection. This debut stands on the shoulders of giants with her voice already established behind the scenes and in venues up and down the land.


It begins with a piano which sprawls out across the octaves with smooth allure. Emme Pierre starts singing. She has a jazzy sense in her delivery, with creamy notes drizzling across the angular composition. Notes jump and play on see-saw like moments where Emme Pierre builds the music gradually word by word. Her voice adds a solid foundation to the fluffy and melancholy piano. Drums and keyboards add their colours for the second verse, allowing the track to further build with emotional drama. This continues up the hill until the music culminates in a gospel style twirl of mixed voices and sunshine chords behind them.

One More Round Of Cheer


We are back in New York this week to report on the latest Christmas single from loveable singing duet Gary and Linda. For over two decades, this couple of creative composers have been sharing their skills with local audiences and beyond. From coffee shops and cafes to schools, halls, churches, and prisons, this pair of songbirds seem to have a magnetic appeal that proceeds them where-ever they play. Seeing as it's December and we all want to get in the nativity mood, we raise the glasses and put on our best smile for One More Round Of Cheer.


The song begins with traditional bells, jangling in a quick stepping tempo. Keyboards and guitar rev up their engines to bring an uplifting medley of harmony and progression. Story-telling lines describe a well known scene of a family Christmas with children and parents enjoying a day together. Handing out gifts and spreading the message of joy, peace, and togetherness is what the Christmas spirit is all about.

Extinction Rebellion
We Will Never Surrender


Mick J. Clark is back with another brilliant song. After seeing the Extinction Rebellion peaceful protest on the news, Mick wrote a song for them. We Will Never Surrender is about the persistent need for pressure on society in order to change our dirty habits. It's time we cleaned the world up, if not for the beauty then for the stability of the climate. Both matter a lot. After writing the song and presenting it to the protest team, they were more than happy to put their name right at the top. What's more, anyone who kindly purchases the music will be donating to Greenpeace. They are a long-established climate and wildlife protection charity.


Smooth drums overlap a strumming guitar with a sleek and easy-going rhythm. Mick begins singing, he describes the situation really well. With poetic lines Mick J. Clark explains the emotions and feelings that govern the action of peaceful protest. Catchy lines sing out with multiple voices as the music builds with underlying keyboards which boost the chords. Creating a divide between those who care and those who don't is perhaps hoped to instil a sense of isolation in those who refuse to understand.

London Girl


The New York afrobeat and hip-hop star is making waves on this side of the ocean. Already a veteran performer with appearances at SOB's and the NYC Multicultural Arts Festival to highlight his resume, Tuu Ra makes us sit up and listen with this new track. Produced by Rico Da Producer and featuring recordings from Oluwa Rankee and Fasache, Tu Raa's latest continues the journey into catchy and thoughtful dance music.


With smooth rhythmic melody, strummed beats and plucked inflections begin the track. Effected vocals spill over like sunlight at dawn before the verse begins. Half rapped, half sung, the words slide into the groove revealed by the consistent tempo. Drums and backing vocal fill the space while the lead voice produces a river of syllables and lines that elevate the dancing pace.

Kayla Grace
Note To Self


Growing up with a special needs sibling gave Kayla a head start on life as she learned to be self-sufficient at an early age. As her parents focused on the child who needed it the most, Kayla developed personal relationships and began to learn about the realities of life. Discovering how many bullies there are in the world as well as how many manipulative people, Kayla found herself surrounded by toxicity and strained emotions. She thankfully found her light and the strength to stand apart in full knowledge that she is doing what she feels is best. Where the others call you weak for not being like them, it takes the strength of a crowd to successfully refuse.


The music starts with abstract notes, like reversed keyboards. A smooth mellow drum-beat throws in a groove as Kayla starts to sing. The composition swells and brings out a radiant burst of sound to bring the song into full flower. Kayla sings to her audience, she says that behind the smile is a jungle of emotions and tested boundaries. It can feel like a thousand beaks pecking at our integrity, at our self-determination, and at our sense of social standing. Is she singing to anyone in particular or does she mean herself? The moral perhaps works both ways, at polar opposites of itself.

Anatoli Tsampa
Everything Different


Anatoli Tsampa left Athens to live in Germany for several years before moving to London during 2010. Her music career has emerged along the way as well as acting and performance, she's even been featured before on Alternative Fruit. Anatoli feels things deeply and likes her experiences to become works of art that can be expressed to us all. The recent track, Everything Different, wants to explore the sense of numbness after we loose someone we love.


Anatoli Tsampa sings immediately as the track begins with a humming melody. Pianos emerge to break the waters with spikes of sombre pitch. Sadness swells in the harmonies, everything's different keeps us thinking on the balance. We drift in wistful verses full of character and dreamy recollections then sink into the warm pool of effervescent emotions. The song journeys through progression and composition that build and grow as the moments pass into a new beginning.

Saint Sapphire
She's A Hero


Hailing from Belfast in Northern Ireland, alternative rockers Saint Sapphire are reaching out across the land. With recent high profile gigs in the musical melting pot that is the London gig circuit, Saint Sapphire have seen massive growth in streaming and fans. Their music has been lapped up by several radio stations already, and as they release She's A Hero, it's certain that this current trend will continue.


A chunky guitar riff opens the track. Huge percussive chord strikes rumble along the drums until the singing begins. Clean vocals with a swagger and with attitude design a story before our ears. We are talking about an inspirational woman, one who is a free spirit and who doesn't read into other people's stories. Crazy guitars banish the quiet as blues style licks wash across the middle eight. Sweet fret-work bounces along the bars to create a thrust of rock'n'roll that culminates in the crunching and rhythmic main riff. I can imagine this band being amazing on stage.

Leon Marshall
Better Man


Leon Marshall returns to Alternative Fruit with another new single. This BBC airtime club-member and semi-finalist of the UK Songwriting Contest is soaring right now. The last few months have seen huge amounts of radio-play and an expressive career flourishing all the time. This new track is called Better Man and was written after an argument with a woman that saw her throwing the contents of a refrigerator at our music star! It's never cool to do this, no matter what temperature the objects are. However, what was cool was the way Leon handled it. He wrote a song, one that's good enough to get on the radio and establish his musical path even further.


It begins with a smooth upbeat guitar phrase. Metallic chords strum a heart-warming tune while Leon Marshall sings about how he messed up. Well, if it was me I'd have shown her the door. No-one throws things at me and gets my love. However, Leon perhaps has low self-esteem and is happy to take someone's toxicity. Who knows? There I was thinking he was going to tell his abuser where to catch the bus but it seems I was wrong. I kinda lost respect for this guy after hearing this song but then I feel sorry for him too. Maybe he has Stockholm Syndrome. Then again, if someone said something so hurtful to me that I wanted to throw things at them, it's when I'd say goodbye.
