Freya Alley Party On My Own Hailing from Lithuania, one of the Alternative Fruit regular artists, London based Freya Alley is back again and this time there's yet another page of the story. Since Black Hole, in which this singer-songwriter delved deep into the philosophy of existence, we're now given the other side of the coin. About free love, confidence, liberal values for women, and much more, Party On My Own is all about being who you are and loving it. With the help of SAFO Music Group, who helped to mastermind the rise and rise of Sam Smith and Pixie Lott, Freya Alley presents her groundbreaking electro-pop sound. It sounds a bit like Goldfrapp (signed stuff) might have done if they hadn't made it big with Felt Mountain. Plenty of feels and groove surge from the composition, the more seductive and light-hearted elements of their sound have found a neat little home with Freya Alley. Digital effects on the vocals work a wonderful magic while melody and rhythm bring a silky flow to the song. Perfect rise and fall in the energy make the dynamics of the track really enjoyable. It's one of those stand-out moments for Freya, where we really get to feel what drives her to perform and make music. It's all about fun, imagination, and being proud of who we are. Nigel Walton
Fly To The Moon Out soon! Originally from the Isle of Man and a one time resident of The Netherlands, Nigel Walton composes and sings fantastic jazz music. With a profound talent for poetry and singing, writing music for himself has been a natural course of life. If any more validation was needed, Nigel won various trophies and awards over his childhood for his brilliant creativity. When spotted performing at a Haarlem Jazz bar one night, professional singer Jose Koning took it upon himself to tutor and sharpen Nigel's skills. It paid off, and in no time Nigel Walton was doing his thing at premium events among well-known musicians. It was at this point when Nigel decided that it was time to go back the UK. After settling in Coventry, it was high time for Nigel to put his composing skills back into action. Beautiful piano chords with a deep cello string element sing in harmony before Nigel starts to project his voice. Softly sung at first, the energy pushes up and out as the rhythm kicks in. A tappy drum-beat begins the dancing spirit and it's soon elevated into a rock drums sound while the chorus puffs out its chest and hollers the words. I want to fly to the moon, don't we all? Sing-a-long words tell a story, give advice, and encourage us to dream of reaching higher than we ever could. Let's dream, as we know, when we all put our minds together we can reach the furthest parts of our solar system. Excellent vocals and emotional musical composition make this a classic already, it feels like I've always known this song. you can find out more on the Nigel Walton Website Listen to Nigel Walton on Soundcloud Follow Nigel Walton on Twitter and connect on Facebook See what's on offer at the Sunday Times Wine Store! Lilith
Little Revolution No stranger to Alternative Fruit, this fabulous fourteen year old singer-songwriter from London returns with Little Revolution. Lilith knows what it's like to stand out from the crowd, not fitting in is part of who she is, and learning to love that about yourself is what her music is all about. Some of us are born to be different, and if it wasn't for those differences, life would get extremely boring! We all need a little revolution from time to time, to get things as they need to be. With songwriting competition prizes, radio play, and recording time at SAFO Music in London, Lilith really has her game in play. It starts with a beautiful and clear voice, singing in emotive inflections to a sombre tune. Then, from all corners, a guitar and bass adds to uplifting drums and the melody shifts into a major key. Bouncy and body moving sounds pour from the speakers and with Lilith singing in her powerful and sonically enchanting voice, the song really stands out to be heard. The Big Dirty
The Day The Devil Came To Town Northampton metallers The Big Dirty have taken everything cool about 70s and 80s heavy rock music and made it their own. Having gained a huge following in their local area and beyond, thanks to amazing live shows and international radio play, The Big Dirty now release yet another high quality romp through guitar, bass, and drum. Even the BBC have aired their music, as a person whose also been aired on this network with poetry, I know how much of a big deal that is. Rock and metal bands tend to break the rules and push boundaries. The rebellious streak found in their music sometimes manifests as a real streaker on stage, that is when they're not performing in women's clothes or firing whiskey water pistols into the crowd. With ferocious guitar licks on the pentatonic scale, the song rips open in a flurry of rock. Powerful vocals lay down melodic lines in between the dynamic riffs which roll out in perfect timing. Aggressive backing vocals add a colour of energy to the already strong delivery while pounding drums break down a steady and head capturing beat. Roaring distortion with perfect performing brings expertly laid down chords in spot on timing to reveal a core of quality difficult to achieve with ruckus music like this. Effortlessly pinning down their heavy metal style with a laid back and easy going attitude, the music tells a story of a woman who we all know is no good. Not worth your effort, unless you want to dance with the devil. K Little Arab Girl From Change EP When arriving in the UK via Germany from distant Syria at the age of ten, Mai hadn't yet discovered RnB music. Upon hearing it, she knew that music was for her. Falling in love with the style and energy of the rhythm and blues sound, it didn't take long before Mai. K began making her own songs. Now a little older and as a working mother, a music career is beginning to bloom. Since recording her album, then having a baby, Mai took it easy while she had more important things to do. That's when she met her manager, Rob Saunders. The living legend behind Deuce Music knew exactly what Mai needed. Confidence, a platform, and friends in the business. That's when the album was split into three awesome EPs. This gives Mai the opportunity she needs to promote her sound in her own way and remain fresh as the months go by. It's what people want. She's already been involved in many projects, including a highly successful video made to remember the Grenfell Disaster. Little Arab Girl is the first single from the first EP. Painting a picture for us with the title, it already has me intrigued. Haunting piano begins the song, and Mai begins to sing. She projects emotive gestures of voice into the air, and a drum adds a groove. The lyrics bring memories and stories into play, providing a theatre for us, we learn about the emotional journey Mai expresses. The troubles and family disruption that come with being a refugee make a deep and heartfelt song. Smooth delivery and expert vocal work give Little Arab Girl a fantastic sound. The Kut I Am Vain From Valley Of Thorns Out Now London based trio The Kut, fronted by the awesome Princess Maha, have really made massive waves in recent months. Since playing at the world-famous Download Festival, and Camden Rocks more closer to home, their following has grown into a rock'n'roll army of hungry music fans. Taking yet another slice of the sought after Valley Of Thorns album and serving up for us in a video single is almost just too much! We love home-grown talent on Alternative Fruit, and The Kut are no different as we even mentioned them previously when they released the album and the first single, Hollywood Rock and Roll. Owning oneself is always a wise thing to do, and this one will no-doubt ring true for many of us. I Am Vain opens with a powerful rock rhythm on frantic grunge guitars. Princess Maha opens her mouth and screams, Hey! The song begins and with a sound similar to Daisy Chainsaw (vinyl and more) smoothed out with Hole (signed stuff), the heavy-metal female sound really works a treat. Expert composition behind the raw energy gives the track a professionally dirty feel, bang on timing and perfect fretwork combined with motivated energy and attitude takes a great deal of skill. The talent oozes from this band, and their punchy sound drives home their brilliant music. Network
True It was way back in the 80s when this band first began making music. Indulging local San Diego residents with quality renditions of famous songs, the cover band enjoyed a good stint. Times moved on, and for this band, the music stopped for a fair while. That is until 2013 when they decided to reform. Having already done the covers band thing, got the t-shirt, and sold a few more, they really wanted to do something different. Forming a melodic rock sound between themselves, Network have started to write their own songs. Since then, their fan-base has grown exponentially across their home-state and much further beyond. Steel string acoustic guitars open the track on a happy and high energy strumming beat. Simple yet effective drums peg it all down into a fun easy to dance to rhythm. An electric guitar cuts through the music to cast a glistening melody over the top before vocals kick in. Melody and tune together make a sing-a-long easy going and fun sound. The lyrics go further than this, with talented songwriting spanning over the composition and words, the song gives us plenty to think about. What do we project when we communicate with others? How do we make them feel, how do others make us feel? It's a pleasure to hear quality rock music, it's not angry or intimidating yet there's nothing soft about it either. I find it fits perfectly. Listen to and follow Network on Soundcloud. Then find them on Facebook, Twitter, and Reverb Nation.

Daria Stefan Everybody's Somebody's Angel When Romania's rising star Daria Stefan brought a whole new meaning to the girl band, by forming her own at the age of six, it only took three years before she stepped up into the solo world. Perhaps there was a clear difference in ambition or musical ability, or maybe she just wanted to be the star of the show, it seems to have been the right move. Now aged fourteen and with many gigs, TV appearances, and global radio play behind her, Daria Stefan releases Everybody's Somebody's Angel. The song was written by Whitney Houston's songwriter (signed memorabilia), Jud Friedman, as well as the skillful Frankie J and Alan Rich. With three profoundly practiced music gurus behind the track and the young, fresh faced, and hyper-talented Daria Stefan performing, we know we'll be seeing more of this artist. Starting with piano chords and with a slightly minor key, a vocal melody layers over. Crystal clear and beautifully composed, a slow and powerful rhythm adds a punchy energy to the progressive singing. As the verses tell stories of good times and moments of deep feeling, the chorus splashes in with catchy and uplifting lines. Strings behind the piano bring out meaningful harmonies that compliment Daria to the button. Everybody's Somebody's Angel is an expertly performed work of art. Michael Mills Band
Dream A Dream From Eponymous Album With a tight-knit well rehearsed sound, this band of California rockers are making huge steps on the global blues rock scene. Massive amounts of radio play plus a sharp reputation for a professional and consistent sound, even when at the end of a long tour, have all helped Michael Mills and his band to establish a following who love them. Along with Jesse, Michael fronts the band and writes the music. The rest of the guys do a marvellous job of shoring up the masonry. Together, they have made a brilliant and fresh sounding album that resonates with fans of Jimmy Vaughn and Johnnie Winter. It's got a bouncy feel straight away, a blues guitar throws down catchy melodies while a drum-kit and bass keep everything together. Michael starts to sing and his tones are on the button with each line fitting snugly in the composition. Rhythm and rhyme merge in the lyrics bringing the music up into the air while the skilful guitars jostle for space with expertly designed licks. Catchy melodies, upbeat rhythms, and a sunshine feel that warms it all up makes the whole experience an enjoyable one. Listen to the album on the Michael Mills Band website.
