Nationally recognised by the industry as a quality songwriter, Lilith began her creative direction at the age of eleven. She's now well and truly up there with the fresh talent of the day, sharing studio space with the great acts who've made use of Charthouse, London. Lilith composes music that identifies with those of us who feel that we don't quite fit in or meet up to the general expectation. I think many of us can locate at least a portion of ourselves that matches this feeling, if not ourselves entirely. The music is themed around being independent, strong willed, and able to withstand the pressures we don't feel comfortable with.
Lilith's new single, Deep Water, takes a gothic edge with a pretty melancholy guitar which is picked slowly in sombre phases. Lilith begins to sing, a sweet and high reaching voice climbs over the bars as if they were boulders. Leaping over them one by one with athletic finesse, the music builds to incorporate a folk sound with pounding percussion and harmonising vocal lines. The sound of The Levellers seems to creep from the background, perhaps they've been an influence. The observational lyric work from introspective points of view allows the pretty song to delve deep down as we listen.
